The story behind Tivos peanut remote control

Not long ago Gizmodo produced an interesting article about the history of the Tivo remote control. The post was made together with co-operation from Tivo and Paul Newby (remote creator) and talks about its development, as well as giving away a few future hints.

This is what Paul Newby had to say when Gizmodo asked about the possibility of adding a small keyboard to the next generation Tivo:

“We’ve either given it thought or were in the process of prototyping it. I’d say it’s a healthy combination of both never been done, done before and what’s been done well elsewhere.”

Looks like Tivo are considering a keyboard remote control. I’m happy with the mobile phone like SMS style input on my remote control, but the keyboard idea could prove quite useful when surfing the web on an internet connected machine; browsing on demand material, or typing in your programme searches.
