I telephoned Sagem today and they said the units will be in the stores this week. BUT, previous writer says no optical digial sound out! Then surely it will of little use for many users.

Nice looking piece of kit but no optical Dolby surround sound or phono connections! Surely that is a massive oversight?

It would make sense to retain the editing features (assuming the transfering of recordings via USB is still included on release). It would be a unique feature for the 'hard drive only' freesat recorders.

Judging by the latest Freeview+ Sagem I am currently reviewing - editing is easy to use, and rather uniquely for Freeview PVR that do have editing - it can 'merge' files too.

Sagem PVRs tend have the same user interface between models and generations. Thats not to say the Freesat PVR won't be different. But for those want to see what they are like now - I took some videos for the pvrjunction comparison tables last year: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=BC061B7A3E579CCE&search_query=sagem+dtr

I'm suprised at the prices of these new Freesat+ machines. The Humax has a bigger hard drive, no catastrophic bugs and confirmed resources assigned to fixing crazy niggles. Yet its set to be the cheapest freesat PVR on the market.

to be fair, Sagem support for freeview PVRs has improved in the last 12 months. If like you me you bought a recent model with the latest software they don't need resetting all that often and are dead easy to use. Just my two pennies worth ;)
