Sagem Freesat+ HD PVR Set For Release: DTR94250S and DTR94500S

Sagem have confirmed the launch of a new PVR for the Freesat service, due for release around October 2009. The Sagem Freesat+ digital TV recorder will be released in two versions: the DTR94250S has a 250GB hard drive and the DTR94500S will ship with a 500GB hard drive.

The new Sagem Freesat+ PVRs will feature a USB port for transferring media and  an ethernet port to support forthcoming iplayer on demand services arriving on Freesat this autumn. With its twin tuners it is possible to record two different channels at the same time.

Prices will start at £250 for the 250GB version and £300 for the 500GB version.

Sagem have also released a Freesat HD set top box with model number DSI86HD, which should be available in shops during the week. In the photo received yesterday from Sagem, the DSI86HD Freesat box design is in keeping with current Sagem STBs and features a USB port on the front. Prices will be around £130.

Nice to see more PVRs available on freesat

Their Freeview PVRs are good (with the latest software) so I’ve got high hopes for this one. Do you know if you can edit recordings? Thanks for the good news! :) :)

    • dawain says:

You can on the freeview sagems so I dont see why not. Unless its not allowed on freesat

    • Staff PVR Junction says:

It would make sense to retain the editing features (assuming the transfering of recordings via USB is still included on release). It would be a unique feature for the ‘hard drive only’ freesat recorders.

Judging by the latest Freeview+ Sagem I am currently reviewing – editing is easy to use, and rather uniquely for Freeview PVR that do have editing – it can ‘merge’ files too.

I think a lot of people are going to think twice about buying Sagem again after a poor 3 or 4 years making freeview PVRs.

  4. csimon says:

to be fair, Sagem support for freeview PVRs has improved in the last 12 months. If like you me you bought a recent model with the latest software they don’t need resetting all that often and are dead easy to use. Just my two pennies worth ;)

  5. DMK says:

I’m suprised at the prices of these new Freesat+ machines. The Humax has a bigger hard drive, no catastrophic bugs and confirmed resources assigned to fixing crazy niggles. Yet its set to be the cheapest freesat PVR on the market.

  6. Sagem PVRs tend have the same user interface between models and generations. Thats not to say the Freesat PVR won’t be different. But for those want to see what they are like now – I took some videos for the pvrjunction comparison tables last year: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=BC061B7A3E579CCE&search_query=sagem+dtr

    Interesting. Thanks

  8. Clive says:

Nice looking piece of kit but no optical Dolby surround sound or phono connections! Surely that is a massive oversight?

  9. Simon says:

I’ve got one of these – very pleased so far and it has digital sound out – the spec sheet is here:

Recommended and with iplayer soon to be released

  10. Alan says:

I telephoned Sagem today and they said the units will be in the stores this week. BUT, previous writer says no optical digial sound out! Then surely it will of little use for many users.
